Keyboard Shortcuts

IanJTurner 4 years ago updated 3 years ago 7

A set of keyboard shortcuts would be a fantastic addition. The ability to flip back and forth with the arrow keys on my bluetooth keyboard would make animating so much easier and more natural feeling. This alone would be brilliant, but other shortcuts such as Space Bar for play/stop could only add to the app's appeal.

Hey, I have added this feature on the latest release of FlipaClip. Please let me know if they all working well and if you have any further recommended tweaks or fixes.

Great idea. Could you expand on what shortcuts and behaviors would like to see? Also, what is your current setup like? What device and keyboard are you using? Thanks!

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 with basic Bluetooth keyboard. I'll list a few shortcuts that I think would be useful.

Step Forward and Step Back using the left and right arrow keys.

Selext Next or Previous Layer using the up and down arrow keys (pehaps linked to an on-screen indication of which layer is currently active).

Play/Stop using the spacebar.

Loop On/Off

Flip (play a user defined frame range and continue looping whilst the key is pressed, return to the active frame when the key is released).

These are the most important ones, I think, related to Flipaclip's current functions.

A couple of other important keyboard shortcuts ones I just thought of:

Light Table Toggle - turn the light table (onion skin) on and off.

Eraser Toggle - switch betweent the current tool and the eraser.

Thanks for the details. I'm setting this as planned.

Hi Jona

I tried out the new shortcuts a while back - as soon as I got the new update - and was meaning to get back to you. Not been doing much animating recently though and completely forgot! The shortcuts are fantastic and work really well, especially the arrow keys for flipping back and forth. I'd recommend anyone who enjoys animating should now get a Bluetooth keyboard!

I did notice that the onion skin toggle was not working very well - seems to either not respond at all or to toggle on and off with just one click, so that may need looking at.
