Nudge Tool

Shane Newville 2 years ago • updated 9 months ago 7

FlipaClip could serious do with a nudge tool. It is very difficult move selections minimally as needed in certain situations. Especially when I have small movements I need made to background, etc. Currently it requires lots time consuming trial an error.

This is not quite the same, but I definitely think this would be a great companion feature to the post from IanJTurner: Improved Move Tool

Here's an animation that would have been about 10 times easier with nudge.

or this

Nudge would make camera pan simulation so much easier.

Hey Shane, thanks for the feedback. Yes, this is a very important feature to improve. If you have more details or ideas to improve this tool please let us know.

We are already working on some concepts to improve this and would be great to share with you once we have something working to get your feedback and see what you think.

Here's one idea. Tap the arrows to nudge. And add an option to the selection/nudge too to adjust the incriment values.

Also the option to click and drag the arrows to lock to X & Y. Maybe either one of the X or either of the Y if click and drag.

On second thought, I might be even better if the nudge tool would appear as a UI overlay that stayed in place or where every the user moves it to. That way if you tap an arrow, ther are not going to move with the selection, which, would have resulted in having to reposition your view or where you tap.

OK. Made a little concept animation for yuh.

This is a concept animation of the functionality for both the nudge tool and X Y translation tools

Nice! Great work with the concepts :) Really neat ;) Should help!

also...please bump this. Every time I animate I imagine being able to nudge.
